About Me
Barbershop Restoration
Barbershop music might sound like an outdated genre that no one listens to or even performs anymore, but that is very far from the truth. When I was in high school, our choir had a representative come in every once in awhile from the La Crosse barbershop choir, "The Coulee Chordsmen." Pretty much as soon as I heard what they do, I was intriged.
After awhile, a few friends and I formed a quartet and learned a good number of songs. The representative thought we were good enough to do a few gigs around our town, and eventually perform in Nashville with some of the best groups in the world!
Unfortunately, it's been a few years since I've sung anything related to barbershop, but it still is a very beautiful art form to me that I would love to get back into. Recently, I got into contact with the CEO of the Barbershop Harmony Society to be my mentor for the semester for a management class, so I am excited to see what's changed in the past few years.
Back-Breaking Work
I was born with mild scoliosis, which hasn't hindered my day-to-day very much, but every once in awhile, I get bad back pain.
I worked at a grocery store for about a year in high school, and I had to lift heavy boxes of food and beverages on the daily. I would have to take short breaks every couple of hours to relieve the pain.
I obviously don't work there anymore, but I do have back pain from certain physical jobs that still affect me. I know there are things I can do to help, but it's mild enough right now that I don't see a need to.
